Bethan's tea cups

Bethan has been throwing pots since she was four years old, taught by her father Mick Morgan. Living in West Wales close to the wild elements of earth, fire and water, Bethan's work brings her closer to absorption with and a creative connection to nature.

All aspects of the pots are hand made. Bethan makes her own slips and glazes and the pots are then fired in a gas kiln. During the final glaze firing the very exciting process of reduction takes place. This brings variations to each pot depending on its location in the kiln. At 950 degrees the kiln flue is shut almost to closed, causing the flames inside the kiln to be starved of oxygen which they draw through the clay body and glaze, alltering the final colour of the glazes. The porcelain is then fired to 1300 degrees which develops its translucent quality.

The inspiration for the tea ware comes directly from Bethan's love and enjoyment of sharing tea, her training and practice of acupuncture and qi gong. Each cup sold separately.
