A Cochrane Database systematic review has concluded that acupuncture and acupressure may improve both physical and psychological symptoms of PMS. Australian authors analysed results from five trials involving 277 women. The results showed that acupuncture may reduce overall mood and physical PMS symptoms when compared with sham acupuncture, while acupressure may reduce the number of women having moderate to severe PMS symptoms, compared with sham.
