A meta-analysis by Korean authors has concluded that cupping therapy can reduce neck pain. Eighteen randomised studies met their inclusion criteria. Compared with no intervention, cupping resulted in a significant reduction in pain and improvement in function. Compared with active controls, cupping also led to significant pain reduction and improved quality of life. Adverse events from cupping were infrequent, mild and temporary.
