Use of acupuncture during the first trimester of pregnancy can bring rapid relief of nausea, vomiting and migraine attacks. An Italian pilot study enrolled 12 patients all of whom underwent a cycle of six acupuncture sessions over four weeks. A standard acupuncture protocol was performed on all patients; Yintang M-HN-3, Fengchi GB-20, Neiguan P-6, Zhongwan REN-12, Zusanli ST-36 and Taichong LIV-3. Nausea, migraine intensity and number of vomiting episodes all decreased significantly over the course of the treatment period.
