The Practical Application of Meridian Style Acupuncture
This is the first original text in English to attempt a comprehensive and rigorous exposition of meridian style acupuncture. In doing so it clarifies many of the underlying patterns determining modern acupuncture's formulas. Elements of acupuncture which often remain confusing for practitioners are presented in the broader context of energic theory through both clear analysis and practical application.
Prof. Pirog is currently Professor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Northwestern Health Sciences University. He has helped establish community-based acupuncture clinics in Chicago and maintains a private practice.
"This is one of the most interesting books to come out of the American acupuncture press . . . written with an independent voice of inquiry and distinguished by the depth of the author's study."
------Douglas Eisenstark, Acupuncture.com
"This book is a welcome addition to English language texts on acupuncture."
------Journal of Chinese Medicine
"The Practical Application of Meridian Style Acupuncture is one of the few essential books in our field. It is a must read for any student of acupuncture, and belongs in every practitioner's library."
------Zachary Parsons
Summary | An academic, theoretical analysis combined with a practical clinical focus offers a systematic approach to treatment using the logic of meridian theory. Point categories, extraordinary vessels and distant points, are described in terms of meridian theory, which is then applied to musculoskeletal pain and vacuity patterns, attempting a comprehensive and rigorous exposition that is integrated, logical and useful. |
