The authors report on their research into improving their understanding of the mechanism of action of Chinese herbs in the treatment of vitiligo, a skin disease characterised by progressive de-pigmentation of the skin in patches due to destruction of melanocytes. The research studies single herbs which enhance the process of migration and adhesion of new melanocytes to the damaged areas of skin.
