Other information

The course will run over 5 weekends in 2022, each related to a season. It will be in person at City College of Acupuncture and simultaneously online. Its really the first time that I am putting together this information for students and practitioners and I'm excited to share it. There is a lot about the course which is quite unique but hard to summarise so I have decided to give a free webinar which will lay out the whole core theory of the course together with many insights and realisations I have had over the years. This will also shed enormous light and clarity on the five elements and how to think about them in a way that does not lead to confusion. Follow the link to www.daomedicine.com/yangshengcourse to sign up for the free webinar. If you sign up after Dec 12th, a link to a recording of the talk will be emailed to you for free. The free webinar will run on Sunday December 12th 10am-12:30pm. I will also be giving out a super-earlybird discount at that time. Directly after the talk, bookings for the full 2022 course will open. The full course next year will: 1. Teach the core theory of yang sheng from the Huang Di Nei Jing that does not get taught in the West 2. Enable participants to understand in detail the effects of different seasons on the body and provide a framework that enables them to apply yang sheng techniques in a very technical and nuanced way 3. Teach how to break the year down into 4 and 5 seasons, into 12 monthly segments, 24 solar terms and 72 hou and learn the clear tangible underlying dynamic of each segment of time 4. Teach how understanding this annual cycle actually reflects a deep understanding of core physiology and pathology that participants can use to enhance their overall clinical outcomes with any therapy 5. Show how all of this relates to the annual sequence of Chinese festivals and cultural practices that are still active in modern East Asia 6. Give participants a clear and effective foundation in Chinese dietary therapy that integrates perspectives from numerous masters of dietary therapy and from herbal medicine 7. Teach participants a self-acupressure routine which will enhance their understanding and feeling of 'de qi' and be a treatment method in itself which they can teach their patients Teach participants a medical 'Meridian Stretching' Qi Gong sequence which can again be taught to patients but also the practice of which can help develop and experiential and internal connection to the meridians leading to a fresh appreciation of what they are and what they do 8. Give a crash course introduction to herbal medicine, enabling participants to get going straight away experimenting with culinary herbs 9. Teach participants what nourishing Yin, Jing and Yang really mean, provide numerous techniques and important considerations for doing this with success 10. Provide explanation and clarity on a number of difficult Chinese medicine concepts such as 'Releasing the Exterior' and differentiating Exterior from Interior All of these elements will be woven into the course at each stage. Each weekend will have one day devoted to the current season and one day devoted to a core technique. They will be interspersed with a great array of quotes from the Huang Di Nei Jing and other texts as well as matched with practical real examples from modern East Asia. The course does not subscribe to any particular style or approach in Chinese medicine. It is quite universal and is very grounded in everyday practice of yang sheng found in modern East Asia.

In person: City College of Acupuncture, University House, 55 East Road, London N1 6AH Online: By Zoom Both in person and online attendees will have access to recordings of the sessions for the duration of the course and for 3 months afterwards.
